Two little girls tell their Mommy for the hundredth time this year that they're embarrassed because they can't tie their own shoes. Mommy guesses she shouldn't put shoe tying instruction off any longer, and anticipates a painful and prolonged lace tangling session complete with tears and tons of frustration.
12. With no more than 15 minutes of instruction, shoes are repeatedly laced and tied with tight bows, and Mom realizes for the first time in her life that procrastination doesn't have to be a negative word.

I used this philosophy for potty training. :) I waited until they were three before I even tried.
