1000 Reasons to be Thankful

7. Damp, cold mornings prompt an outfitting of newly purchased sweats, fleece jackets and mittens for winter weather ahead. Everyone gets something warm.

Fifty degrees feels more like forty-five in thick fog that burns off just before we arrive. Silliness helps us forget the wet damp still lingering upon the hills just before 7:00a.m.

BRRRRR! The wind against our faces chills.

Like us, a lone family of ducks spends the early morning in a protected cove on the eve of Thanksgiving,

while the rest of the lake remains in a mist-ical trance. I am like the water. Five miles round the lake allows for quiet time to focus on the abundance of blessings received as another year comes to a close.

8. Grocery bags from the market overflow with fresh Thanksgiving deliciousness.

Our Thanksgiving table is embellished with a pink cloth, chipped plates, paper napkins, aluminum tins and mismatched serving dishes. Maybe not the most appealing set-up for the eyes, but definitely a feast for hungry tummies.

One hungry tummy convinces its owner to sneak a bite of turkey before Mom gets back to the table to pray.

As usual, Kathleen, great post. 7:00 a.m.? Did you stay up all night?! That's waaay too early here, isn't that pathetic? And darling pic of that little face peeking over the chair realizing she's been caught!

But in all seriousness, I am sure you had an especially memorable Thanksgiving this year.

Three mornings each week at the lake start here at home around 5:45a.m. Our car pulls out of the driveway a little past 6:30 and it's about a 20 minute drive to serenity!

Every day is Thanksgiving for me :-)
